Exercise Squat Box - (SLANT BOARD) By New Zealand Strength Institute

Standing surface size: 70 cm x 40 cm

Our squat wedges/ slant boards are handcrafted, produced, and made in New Zealand from high-quality, fine-finish construction plywood.  This is a resilient material and optimal for heavy-duty workouts.

The standing surface is  grip-covered from edge to edge. Each wedge is completely sealed with a clear coat to show off the beauty of the timber and ensure long-lasting performance.

The larger wedge is set at a 25 degree incline
The smaller wedge is set at 12 degree incline

Our slant boards are suitable for anyone from elite athletes to the everyday person who is looking to work on their:

  • Strengthening
  • Rehabilitation
  • Stretching movements

The Benefits of Using Our Slant Boards:

  • Beneficial for knee health and rehabilitation

  • Increases users ability to isolate the VMO muscle (Vastus Medialis Oblique). VMO is the most important knee stabiliser, which is often forgotten. The majority of athletes and clients we see have weak VMO due to not doing squats properly

  • Helps increase ankle mobility
  • Helps improve the flexibility of calf muscle and Achilles tendon. The calf muscle plays an important role in your everyday activities, such as walking, standing, running, and jumping
  • Compact and lightweight
  • Easy to carry around and can be used anywhere

Squat on Slant Board:

Performing a full range of motion on squat for lots of people is impossible, due to lack of ankle mobility (dorsiflexion). Standing on a Slant Board will put your ankle on plantar flexion which will help to increase your ankle mobility in dorsiflexion. Cyclist squat and hack squat on slant board are great for strengthening patellar tendons.

There are a variety of exercises performed on slant boards, such as poliquin step-up, Petersen Step-up, and  hack Squat. These are great exercises for knee injury prevention.

Why NZSI Slant Boards?

There are lots of cheap, adjustable slant boards on the market not strong enough or wide enough to support heavier loads. Barbell Hack Squat, Barbell Cyclist Squat and Barbell Poliquin Step up are weighted movements which require a heavy load, especially for elite athletes. NZSI slant boards are both wide and strong to accommodate a variety of exercises.
